Acupuncture
Evidence-informed needle therapy for pain and rehabilitation.
Acupuncture at HCMG is provided by registered practitioners — either Registered Acupuncturists (R.Ac) regulated by the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario, or by appropriately trained physiotherapists, chiropractors, and physicians.
We offer both contemporary medical acupuncture (Western-style, anatomically targeted) and traditional acupuncture approaches, selected based on the patient’s presentation and preference.
What Acupuncture Treats

- •Tension-type and migraine headache
- •Myofascial pain and trigger points

Our Clinical Approach
The initial acupuncture session includes a focused history and examination. Sterile, single-use, disposable filiform needles are inserted at selected points.

- •Cupping — adjunctive soft-tissue technique, where indicated
- •Heat application — including infrared lamp therapy
Acupuncture in Motor Vehicle Accident Recovery
Acupuncture is included in many SABS-funded rehabilitation plans, particularly for patients with persistent musculoskeletal pain, post-traumatic headache, or pain conditions that have not fully responded to manual therapy and exercise alone.
