Massage Therapy
Soft-tissue therapy delivered by Registered Massage Therapists.
Massage therapy at HCMG is provided exclusively by Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs) registered with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario. Within our clinic, massage therapy is used as a clinical modality — to address soft-tissue restriction, reduce pain, support tissue healing, and complement rehabilitation.
What Massage Therapy Treats
- •Muscular strain and post-injury soft-tissue restriction
- •Chronic muscle tension contributing to headache, neck and shoulder pain
- •Myofascial pain syndromes and trigger points
- •Adhesions following injury or surgery
- •Post-collision soft-tissue injury
- •Soft-tissue components of chronic pain conditions
Our Clinical Approach
The initial RMT assessment includes a focused health history, postural assessment, palpation, and range-of-motion testing relevant to the area of complaint.
- •Swedish techniques — for general circulation and muscle relaxation
- •Deep tissue and myofascial release — for chronic soft-tissue restriction
- •Trigger point therapy — for focal points of referred pain
- •Joint mobilization — within scope, to support range of motion
- •Remedial exercise and self-care education — stretching and home self-massage techniques
Massage Therapy in Motor Vehicle Accident Recovery
Massage therapy is frequently included in collision rehabilitation plans, particularly for patients with significant soft-tissue injury, muscular guarding, or chronic muscle tension contributing to pain and headache.
For SABS-funded patients, massage therapy is typically delivered as part of an OCF-18 treatment plan, in coordination with other rehabilitation services.
